THE ROAD TO PEACE

Fostering Peace in a Divided Region

A 20 day run from Lebanon to Jordan, Israel and Palestine.

The Middle East Peace Run was 1500km in length and brought  people together across many cities, ending in Jerusalem.

Throughout the run, people from all walks of life came out in support of peace in the region, following Pat's example of putting one step in front of the other. It shows us that peace is what the people want.

“As far as I’m concerned, this run isn’t about breaking records or achieving personal goals; it’s about bringing a very clear message to everybody that I meet along the way, ordinary people, to find a voice for their politicians to just get on with the peace process.”

Pat Farmer

There were four goals to this project:

1. To strengthen popular aspirations to peace

2. To bring people together through sport

3. To promote the positive value of sport and

4. To highlight the region's unique culture, attractions and people
